Housing boost for West Dorset

The number of houses built in West Dorset increased by 17 per cent compared with the year before, according to latest figures for the area.

Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government statistics show that 480 properties were completed in 480 – the highest since 2008.

That is a total of 70 more homes than in 2017, according to the figures. Private developers and housebuilders funded 71 per cent of the new homes, while housing associations funded the rest.

Housing charity Shelter, the Home Builders Federation and the National Federation of Builders have all commented on the figures.

West Dorset is among the areas covered by Opening Doors along with South and North Dorset. We aim to encourage the construction of 20,000 more good quality homes of all tenures by 2033.
