First look at Dorchester community land trust plans

Plans for a community land trust in Dorchester are to be unveiled at a public presentation tomorrow, Wednesday June 12.

The Dorchester Area Community Land Trust (DACLT) is holding the event at the town’s Corn Exchange from 3pm to 7pm.

It will include plans and a progress report about the development on a former tennis off West Walks.

DACLT is proposing 19 flats of one-bedroom each for local people aged under 25 who live and work in Dorchester.

The event is being held before a planning application is lodged with Dorset Council.

Architects Reed Watts have drawn up the plans for the DACLT and Dorchester-based Zero C is set to build the properties.

DACLT has joined forces with Dorchester Town Council and Dorset Council for the project.

Dorset Council has been leading the way nationally on community land trusts with west Dorset among the most active area in the country.
