Drop-in event a great success
We joined forces for the event at the Dorset County Hospital, in its Damers Restaurant.
There was a steady stream of people enquiring about shared ownership properties and housing in general across north, south and west Dorset.
Many were young NHS workers saving for a deposit while living with their parents, and looking for somewhere to buy – one of the exact groups of people Opening Doors was set up to help.
Others were seeking more information about finances and mortgage costs – and we were able to point them in the right direction for help.
A regular question was about where people could find details of shared ownership, rent to buy or help to buy homes.
The best place to start is the ‘Your New Home‘ section of our website which includes lists of properties available now, those in the pipeline and a regularly updated list of affordable homes.
It was a great success and we hope we were able to help people with their queries at the event.
One of the aims of Opening Doors is to encourage good quality housing of mixed tenures, including for key workers and young local families.
Providing good housing of this kind for health and medical workers will help the NHS recruit the staff it needs to continue to provide a top class service in this area.
Many thanks to the Dorset County Hospital, and to Stonewater and Magna for inviting Opening Doors to be involved in the drop-in session.
Don’t forget to sign our Home Ownership Register for more details about new homes for rent and purchase in northern, southern and western Dorset.
It is aimed at anyone who is seeking to buy or rent locally.
Signatories receive all of the latest information about new homes developments and the findings will help our council pinpoint housing need more exactly so we can try to encourage the construction of the right types of homes in the area.
