Plans propose 90 homes for Gillingham

Plans have been lodged for 90 new homes on land off Lodden Lakes at Gillingham in north Dorset.

Taylor Wimpey has submitted a detailed planning application for the site, which also includes garages, parking, play areas and open spaces.

A mixture of flats, and two, three and four bedroom houses are proposed in the application to North Dorset District Council.

People are able to make comments and representations about the scheme until May 27, 2018  and the application is due to be decided in July or August.

Outline planning consent was given in May 2015.

Taylor Wimpey held a public exhibibition at the Rivers Meet Leisure in Gillingham in September 2015 to consult about its detailed proposals for the site.

The site falls within the Gillingham Strategic Site Allocation (SSA) in the North Dorset Local Plan.

The SSA makes provision for land for a total of 1,800 houses, of which the majority are due to be delivered before 2031.

Opening Doors aims to encourage the construction of 20,000 more homes by 2033 – including housing provision in north Dorset.
